OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Mobilization Team Member will be part of the China BPO Delivery Center
Mobilization Team. The role of this team is to support the lead
and execute transition of new deals in the China BPO Delivery Center (DC)
and to participate in ad-hoc projects focused on Transformation, Continuous
Improvement, and Quality in close cooperation with the Centre and deal
management.
The work of the Mobilization team covers two key areas: Solution Planning and
Mobilization. Solution Planning is the process of identifying the ‘as is’
for particular Client deal and designing the ‘to be’ as it will be delivered
out of the Delivery Centre, while Mobilization is the project management
and execution of the transition of new deals in the Centre.
The Member will work across both areas, and will be required to learn the
associated methodologies. Initially, it is envisioned that the bulk of the
Member’s work will be in Mobilization. As the team grows, the Member
will be able to specialize more in a particular area or areas of expertise.
Mobilization
Mobilization (which means Due diligence, Service Transition and Solution Realization) is the program of activities through which a new outsourcing
deal is brought into an Delivery Centre. Team member will participate in
and/or lead one or more of the following work streams in a transition
program.
- Knowledge Capture: Documenting and learning existing procedures and
systems
- Knowledge Transfer: Training or facilitating training of the various
centre members performing the operation
To a lesser extent, activities also include:
- Communication: Planning, managing and delivering a program of
communication to all affected stakeholders.
- People Transfer: Supporting recruiting to staff up the deal or, in a
transfer scenario, managing the transfer of staff from a client organization in accordance with regulations.
- Service Management: Implementing an initial Service Management Framework.
- Financial Management: Supporting establishment of the finance related
organization, tools and processes.
- Technology & Work Environment: Supporting design and implementation of the
appropriate work environment.
- Centre Operations Set up: Supporting the Centre and deal operational
management to prepare for go-live through to the point at which service
delivery is stabilized.
A Mobilization Team Member may work across all or any of the areas above, or
may assume overall project management responsibility for the Mobilization
program, or participate in ad-hoc projects focused on Transformation,
Continuous Improvement and Quality.
SOLUTION PLANNING
Solution Planning is the process of identifying the ‘as is’, designing the
‘to be’ and planning sound, deliverable solutions.
Generally, the Mobilization team Member will take the Solution Planning lead
role for a particular deal going to China BPO DC reporting to the
overall Solution Architect of the onshore team. The onshore deal team will
do the majority of the ‘as is’ identification with some involvement from
China DC, but the bulk of the local team’s work will be planning.
Typical activities of the Mobilization Team Member will include:
- Providing deal teams with all relevant background material relating to the
China BPO DC.
- Cost modeling (i.e. working out the operating costs if the deal were to
be run in the Centre and helping deal teams build their overall business
case.
- Process analysis – assisting deal teams to (a) understand ‘as is’
processes (b) decide the offshore scope and (c) how the onshore/offshore
interfaces will work (this includes recommendations for changes to
processes). This work feeds into the design of the Service Model.
- Helping deal teams incorporate the Centre (or company-wide) capabilities
(assets, tools) into the deal solution.
- Communication to deal teams how their deal will operate in the centre,
including the areas of the Process, Performance Management, Culture,
Organization, Competency, Applications, Equipment, Infrastructure, as well
as Governance.
- Mastering and promoting the use of Solution Planning methodology, global
best practices, models, tools and techniques.
- Keeping up to date with competitor practice.- Providing input into
transition planning and estimating. |
